Fundamentals of Lightweight Design
The lecture conveys the fundamental mechanics for the calculation of thin
walled structures. The course builds on knowledge of the technical mechanics
and deals with statically determined structures. In extension of the
''classical'' beam theory the consideration of plasticity and warping
constraint is introduced. Furthermore the lecture focuses on the schematic
calculation of shear flow distribution and shear centre location of open and
closed sections. The course ends with an introduction in the so called
''shear panel theory''.
